Why visit Tczew

Tczew lies on the Vistula, in the Kociewie region. Its landmark is the road bridge across the river: built in 1851–1857, it was the longest bridge in Europe when it opened.Road bridge in Tczew — Polish Wikipedia

On the morning of 1 September 1939 the bridges were bombed, and Polish sappers blew them up so that they would not fall into German hands.Road bridge in Tczew — Polish Wikipedia

The first written mention of Tczew dates from 1252, when Duke Sambor II began building a castle here. The former “Arkona” agricultural machinery factory now houses the Vistula Museum, a branch of the National Maritime Museum in Gdańsk.Tczew — Polish WikipediaVistula Museum in Tczew — Polish Wikipedia
